MY STORY
VICTORIA STAR GILBERT
Growing up, Victoria felt it was a constant battle tending to all versions of herself; none of which she felt was worth sacrificing. Victoria dedicated over fifteen years to professional tennis. Her “high school experience” consists of travel, studying, and training with the end goal to play for a University. Between tennis commitments, she was drawn to the ingenuity of sculpture, design, fashion, and entertainment but wasn’t sure how these various creative industries would serve a specific purpose. In addition to her aptitudes, she discovered an unfading passion to self-teach Mandarin during a time when there was no plausible cause for speaking a complex language at the age of seven. She remains dedicated to following her heart before limiting any dreams by staying engaged in research, design, and projects; allowing time to create the unconventional path towards pursuing venture capitalism in the creative sectors involving entertainment, fashion, tech and design. These early accounts in life instilled her diligence, meticulousness, and driven instinct. Upon entering college, it were these embedded characteristics that fueled her efforts toward her aspirations in pursuing a career in which she can make an income while making an impact.
She was disturbed by the actions taken against groups of minorities who were also misunderstood and pre-judged by their cultural associations. The divide between groups of people caused similar struggles she faced only now occurring at higher stakes. Witnessing the effects of Nine-Eleven, Ebola, Trump Wall, Traded-War, Death of Travon Martin, Umbrella Movement and Pandemic throughout college she observed the declining flow of ideas, opinions, and perspective due to alienation and mistreatment of others. In college, under guidance of mentors she explored the fundamental concepts of globalization to theorize ways to change people's perspective and build an inclusive environment using what the elements she loves. Thus, promoting more efficient and ethical international exchange of soft power has been her chosen vehicle to build an inclusive environment.
Victoria was persistent in keeping all business, cultural, and creative facets alive. She attended Austin College, a private liberal institute in Texas, where she double majored in International Economics and Finance and East Asian Studies with a concentration in Chinese and a Minor in Art. Her background in Social Sciences and Humanities was the foundation she stands upon in continuing her life commitment to connecting people through business worldwide with a specialization in creative industries.
Under the nurturing guidance of mentors, Victoria has conducted research in international finance and economic topics relating to the trades of textile, tech, and entertainment markets. She has traveled throughout China and Japan and has used models that expanded her strategic management tactics in evaluating and finding economic-financial solutions to globalized issues. She has gained a level of intermediate proficiency in Mandarin through government-intensive language training and understands the delicacies in cross-culture engagement. She believes in an inclusive, globalized future where innovation is globally accessible.
Now she’s an aspiring Venture Capitalist who wants to be a financial representative for creative corporations that show potential in contributing to international well-being.This platform is just the beginning of her ventures.
